3D Scanning & Motion Capture (IN2354)
Teaching Assistant for 3D Scanning & Motion Capture (IN2354) at the Technical University of Munich, taught by Prof. Matthias Nießner.
The course covers the foundations of acquiring and reconstructing 3D geometry and motion from sensor data. Topics include depth sensing and RGB-D cameras, camera calibration, point cloud processing, rigid and non-rigid registration (ICP and variants), volumetric surface reconstruction with signed distance functions (KinectFusion-style fusion and meshing), as well as motion capture, skeletal tracking, and parametric human body models (e.g. SMPL). Lectures are paired with programming exercises in C++ where students implement the core pipeline pieces themselves.
